Art Walk

Art Walk is an annual collaboration between Tower poets and local Carnegie Gallery artists as one of the many Arts Dundas festivities in early November. The Carnegie Gallery initiated this project in the early 1990s as a means of extending art and poetry into community life.

Each year, Tower poets (TPS members only) are invited to create poetry in response to the work of Carnegie Gallery member artists.

A Guided Tour of Art Walk pairings, followed by a Tower members’ Poetry Reading on the Carnegie Lower Level, are scheduled for for the first Sunday in November each year (the final day of Arts Dundas celebrations).

TPS Members – ARTWALK 2026 Invitation (Members only) — You are invited to head over to Carnegie Gallery between July 5 & August 9 to select artwork.  Not a member? https://towerpoetry.ca/membership/

ART WALK 2025

This year’s Art Walk was success! Read about it, here, in this article from Dundas Today. Thank you, Morgan Elliott, for this fabulous article! You can print a PDF of the article. Check out the fabulous photo gallery.

This year ART WALK 2025 was Sunday, November 9, 2025 — which also happened to be the first Blizzard of the season. 14 Tower poets wrote 24 poems in response to 16 Carnegie Artists’ works at 19 Dundas B.I.A. Storefronts…

Folks gathered inside the Gallery at 1 p.m. A small group braved the weather and took the annual Guided Tour of Art Walk storefront displays, whilst another group opted to gather at the library to hear the poems from the warmth of inside (where the snacks were!).

The snow-covered, Blizzard-brave returned after 2 p.m. for the POETRY READING by TPS members at the Dundas Public Library. There were 25-ish folks present

Three sample poems from Art Walk 2025 feature one by a new TPS member and first-time Art Walk contributor, Liz Tessier. Her lovely Cesily is a response to artist Katherine MacDonald‘s portrait of the same name.

Also featured are poems by two long-time members instrumental in TPS Executive roles over many years:

Early Morning is an evocative response by Treasurer/Circulation Manager Ed Woods to Holly Sneath‘s lush painting of the same title.

EARLY MORNING, Ed Woods

Silent Summer Shadow by Gertrude Olga Down is a masterful response to Ralph Heather‘s Spark Box Shadow. Trudi has served long stints in numerous capacities, including President, Circulation Manager and Webmaster.
