Red varnished sweetness
smooth coated glass
he gives to you
this candied apple
ripe fruit from Eden
sugar-laced poison
you bite into

Like Snow White
your innocence falls
as you lean on step ladder
your first Delicious taste
taffy-pulled from growing tree
he too is greedy snake
wicked witch disguised
as old woman with
basket of fruit

Each apple a lesson
in temptation
