Magical Dreams, by Cora Brittan*

Persephone Prototype

by Gaiyle J. Connolly

A Persephone prototype
she flees the moon
and carries with her
fragrant floral gems.

Like a harvest goddess
not queen of the underworld
but of the overworld
she reaps blooms.

Above the moon she rises
Bringing with her precious vegetation
Her abundant gown
Symbol of generous giving.

She ascends with energy waning
Then the magic returns
This time she reappears as a night flower
That only blooms with the moon.
