The Great Canadian Shield, Janusz Wrobel*

ASCENSION

by Stella Mazur Preda

Like Atlantis ascending from depths of darkness,
boulders shatter the surface, reminiscent
of pregnant women, bellies softly rounded.
Brazen winds swagger,
evergreens bow in reverence
seem to evolve from the rocks
as if born of their swollen bellies.
Riveted, I gasp …
I listen …
Nature’s heartbeat echoes silently,
rhythms syncopating with my own.
