Over a Brocade Landscape, by Cora Brittan*

Legend in Black, Silver & Gold

by Eleanore Kosydar

Curvaceous dark dress
touched by burning sun,
she glides effortlessly
through milky air

Slender arms shape
an extended oval
as if to cradle
a newborn
With her
a long
slim
bird
soaring
on powerful
slow-beating wings

Shiny ebon skin
echoes
black flamingo's
sleekened plumage

Waist-length hair
streaming like
an angel's wing,
she skims with him
over a dense tapestry
of feverish fertility

Below,
the golden planet
shimmers
in the unrelenting
light
Sea creatures glitter
beneath silvery waves
and outstretched
flowers
reach
for the sky

Seeds of unborn life stir
as she passes,
her escorted passage
prelude
to the quickening
of humankind
